I've just started reading the Fellowship of the Ring recently, for as a fantasy writer myself, it seems quite bad to have never read the series in its entirety. This isn't the first time that I have started at this project, but it is the first time that I have gotten so far into it without getting distracted by other things.
I'm really enjoying it so far. No doubt it'll be another of those things that I end up putting impressions of as I go along. :D

The Lord of the Rings is a great series, but I have many friends who couldn't finish book one of Fellowship of the Ring. Most of the commentaries I've read say that Tolkein was still trying to get his bearings in Middle earth during the first half of FOTR. After that though, it gets wonderful. Tolkein is pure genius. Your work looks cool.
Hah, thank you! I really should have considered continuing with this write up. I guess I thought it would only be funny to me, and stopped.
But yes, I believe most of these commentaries would be right in what they suggest.
Lovely to talk to you.
Nikki.
